How to attract a search firm’s attention, and prove yourself the best candidate for the best company

The first thing to remember about working with search firms is that you will not necessarily be their primary concern. Many search firms will not work directly for a particular candidate, but will serve only the client’s needs. (This avoids conflicts of interest). To best serve those clients, however, any firm needs to have a constant supply of qualified candidates in their database. Thus the vast majority of executive search firms will always be interested in talking to high-performing executives.

Even the most successful executives, with proven track records and well-defined strengths, need to seize the initiative in advancing their careers.
